THE DREAD
I am cursed. The vile darkness of Sin has all but consumed my body and soul. Yet, rather than submit to the darkness, I choose instead to wield its formidable might in service to the light. I am the monster. I am the wretch. I am Sin embodied. I am the Dread.
A curse has warped your very soul, transforming you into a monstrous shadow of your former self. Rather than succumb to the Sin which threatens to consume, you have learned to use your dark powers as a tool. A versatile combatant and dreadful foe, you grow stronger the more you allow the curse within your soul to take control...a risky, but often necessary measure.

Mark of Sin |
Passive
|
The Dread starts the game with this ability at Notch 1.
You are both Mortal and Accursed; anything that affects Accursed creatures affects you as well. You are able to sense the presence and influence of Sin, and may use an Awareness Feat to detect its stench.
While Sin corrupts and debilitates others, it strengthens you. Pick three Marks which reflect the way Sin has both cursed and empowered you. You learn two new Marks with every Notch you attain in Mark of Sin. Unlike other Mortals, your Sin level resets to 0 at the end of each Full Rest.

Rituals
AbsolutionEither confess aloud your sins or take the confession of a willing creature. The Sin level of the confessor is reduced by 1d6 + Charisma. |
Blood MagicTasting a mere drop of blood can tell you many things about a creature. Taste the creature's blood and ask the GM up to three of the following questions, which will be answered truthfully:
|
NecrophagyBy eating the raw flesh and drinking the blood of a recently dead creature, you recover a great deal of vitality. After performing this deed, you may roll your Resolve a number of times equal to your current Sin level and recover HP equal to the total amount rolled. |
Sin EaterYou meditate in the presence of a creature, object, or location tainted by Sin, swallowing its darkness into your own. Depending on how deep the corruption runs, the target creature, object, or location is purified from Sin either permanently (if the corruption is light/surface level), a few days (if the corruption runs deep), or a few hours (if the corruption is truly abyssal). After performing this Ritual, raise your Sin level by 1d4. |
Speak to DeadEntering a state where your mind and spirit are split between the material and immaterial planes, you act as a link between worlds. In this state, you are able to speak to any spirits that happen to be present and may either allow them to speak through you, using your body and voice as a conduit by which they may communicate, or simply act as an intermediary, relaying the spirit's words to anyone present or writing down the message they give you. This link to the spirit world lasts for up to (Awareness) minutes or until you voluntarily sever the connection (or lose consciousness). |
SwaLLOW THE SUNAfter performing this Ritual, reduce the light level in a 20 meter radius around your person by one degree for the next hour. Bright light turns to normal light. Normal light becomes dim light. Dim light becomes darkness, and darkness turns to pitch black. For the duration of this ritual, your eyes magically adjust, allowing you to see in any level of darkness as though it were normal light. |
